Nusa Ceningan Travel Guide

Nusa Ceningan is a really small beautiful Island located between Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, which is just south of Bali. To get here we caught the ferry from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan and then walked across the yellow bridge into Nusa Ceningan. No cars can get onto the Island so the best way to explore the Island is by foot or scooter, there are bicycles but to be honest it would be bloody hard work biking up all the hills in the heat. We only managed to stay here for two nights, but if you get the chance to go I recommend staying for four to five nights so you can do a bit more exploring and spend time in the other Islands.

What to do

  • Blue Lagoon - An incredible sight to see! It’s a rocky cave with the most beautiful bright blue water.

  • Le Pirate Beach Club - A resort on the Island that has the cutest little huts that you can stay in. I recommend heading down just before sunset to experience the sun setting in between the two Islands. One thing to be aware of here is that because it’s a tourist hot spot the food and drinks are expensive.

  • Snorkelling - Lots of spots around the Island that offer incredible snorkelling. We went on a morning trip that stopped off at three different locations. At one of the spots we managed to see some Manta Rays, which was incredible.

  • Secret Beach - A pretty little beach where you can swim in the clear blue sea.

Where to eat

  • Next Level Cafe - We went here for dinner on our first night and the food was so good that we ended up going back the next day for brunch. It’s a Warung which means its a local business and that the money you spend here is going back into the community. I highly recommend the smoothie bowl for breakfast and then for lunch or dinner the chicken tacos. An awesome thing about the cafes here is that if you make a booking for dinner they will come and pick you up on a scooter and then drop you back again. If you’re lucky you might even have their sausage dog join you on the scooter.

  • The Sand - Here you get the most beautiful views of the sunsetting, so make sure you get here early to get a good spot. They also have great happy hour deals, which is the most important part.

Where to stay

We stayed at the Sea Bridge Villa Ceningan which was perfect. The price was reasonable and the location was on point as it was situated right by the bridge so could easily get into Nusa Lembongan. The owners here are super helpful and will organise any day trips you need and have great recommendations on where to eat. My one piece of advice is that you shouldn’t put your head under the water if you have blonde hair as there is a high chance your hair will go green!! Three girls who were staying here had it happen to them so thankful they told me before I went for a swim haha.
