I thought I would give you one more skin update as I'm off to see my Dermatologist this week and I'm hoping this means I can come off Roaccutane.

The last couple of months I have seen a big improvement. My skin is feeling and looking great, and I've left the house a few times with no makeup on, this is a huge step for me. A couple of weeks ago I got one small pimple on my chin, but it went away after a couple of days and hadn't left a scar, so I'm not worried about it.

My friend who is a Registered Cosmetic Nurse has launched her own business called Louise Highet Aesthetics, so I booked myself in for a consultation to see what she recommends to do for my scarring and to see how I can get my skin back to how it was a couple of years ago, pre-acne.

Louise had a good close up look at my bare skin and said that I have hyperpigmentation and a combination of boxcar scarring and minor rolling acne scarring. She also recommended a couple of options; the first is a Medical Peel and the then later down the track when I have been off Roaacutane for at least three months we can look at Dermal Needling.

The Medical Peel is great for sensitive skin, which means I can start having them straight away. They work by increasing your cell turnover rate, which brings new cells to the surface. Which reduces the signs of fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and clears breakouts.

Dermal Needling is a rejuvenation procedure which improves the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores, scarring and pigmentation. It involves using a medical grade dermal pen, where a series of microneedles are gently passed over the skin, the oscillating needles create thousands of microchannels in the skin, creating controlled wounds to stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis, resulting in a change in your skin.

Lousie also gave me samples of some medical grade skincare by PCA Skin. The benefits of using this skincare are that they contain a higher concentration of active ingredients since they can only be dispersed by medical professionals. This brand is free of colour additives, synthetic fragrances, harsh alcohols and comedogenic oils. They also do not test on animals. I've got samples of the Acid Boosting Serum, the Rebalance Moisturiser and the Sheer Tint Broad Spectrum SPF45.So far my skin is loving them, so I will keep you posted.

Hopefully, I get the good news this week xx.
